General Conditions & Provisions
1. All services accept contactless payments only. Passengers on paying the fare are requested to see that they receive a new ticket corresponding with the amount paid. The ticket must be retained by the passenger for inspection upon demand. Student and concession cards will not be issued with paper tickets. Show your named card to the inspector upon demand.
2. One child for each fare-paying adult is carried free without a seat up to their fifth birthday.
3. Those eligible for a Senior Concession Card and are resident in either Guernsey or Alderney can be carried free of charge on any service (with the exception of Friday and Saturday Night services), upon production of a Senior Concession Card.
4. Queries regarding fares, or lost property on a bus, can only be dealt with on production of
the bus ticket or puffinpass relating to the bus journey concerned.
5. The Sunday services published in our timetable will operate in place of the normal weekday services on the bank holidays, with the exception of Liberation Day when a Saturday service will be in operation.
6. Buses operating on scheduled routes bear route numbers which are exhibited at the front of the vehicle. Please check the number on the front of the bus before boarding. Signal for your bus as it approaches.
7. Whilst every effort is made to present information that is 100% accurate at the time of print, errors are possible. Consequently, we disclaim all liability for your use of the information in online and printed material.
8. No eating or drinking is permitted aboard the scheduled buses.
9. Smoking, including e-cigarettes, aboard the buses is prohibited.
10. CCTV cameras may be in operation on board buses. The equipment may be used for prevention/prosecution of offenders; safety of public and employees; staff discipline; monitoring of traffic. There is also audio on some vehicles in the driver’s cab.
11. Assistance Dogs are permitted to be carried on all buses. Other dogs may be carried on buses at the discretion of the bus driver. All dogs are carried free and are not allowed on seats.
12.The driver may request that buggies are folded up to avoid obstructing the aisle. For the safety of other passengers, please do so if requested.
13. Bikes of any size are not permitted on buses. A bike that is fully folded and in a cloth bag may be taken on board.
14. Those using mobility aids that have a seat as part of the mobility aid must remain seated on the mobility aid for the duration of the bus journey. Please ensure the mobility aid has the parking brake applied.
15. Though we make every effort to be on schedule, Guernsey sometimes has traffic congestion and the services can also be affected by road closures. We cannot be held responsible for the consequences of any such delay. Please allow good time for onward travel. Please be at your stop five minutes before departure.
16. We reserve the right to refuse access if a passenger is not in a fit state to travel.
17. Please be considerate to your fellow passengers and turn down the volume when using mobile phones, personal stereos and other electrical equipment.
18. Fares published in our timetable are correct at the date of publication of the timetable.
19. Though we do our utmost to reunite items with their owners, SCI Ltd Guernsey and the Environment Department accept no responsibility for belongings left on our vehicles. Items found of value will be made known to the Guernsey Police. Other items found are retained at the premises of the Town Terminus Shop for up to a maximum seven days only prior to disposal or donation to charity. Note items like food, drink and used swim kit will not be held very long.
20. If your Standard Day journey cannot be completed using one bus route and it is necessary to change routes in order to complete your journey, you do not need to pay twice providing that the connecting journey is the next available to your final destination that day. On the second leg of your journey, our driver will take your original ticket and will exchange it for a transfer ticket. Please retain the transfer ticket for inspection. Please note that a transfer ticket will not be issued for return journeys or when re-boarding a bus if it would have been possible to complete journey on the original route.
21. Night Buses are a flat fare of £5.00 for all bus journeys: A new fare is needed if a second night bus is then used: No continuation tickets are possible in the Night Buses.
22. Conditions and Provisions Relating to Puffin Passes are available separately.
23. SCI Ltd Guernsey and the Environment Department are not responsible for loss or damage to cards after purchase.
24. Pre-purchase of journeys does not guarantee travel on a particular service.
25. The new app or website at buses.gg is the way most will plan their journeys. Timetable books are available for individuals as they arrive in Guernsey at the Airport and Tourist Information Centre. Free timetable books are not able to be given in bulk to businesses. Arrangements can be made for businesses to pay the printed price per timetable book if they have a need to add timetable books to their product.
