Service Disruption - Storm Eleanor
Morning - Friday 5 January 2018

Fresh spill from Thursday evening's high tide has left a great deal more mess along the stretch between Pleinmont and L'Eree.

We will also be faced with the closure of the road between Vazon and Albecq, owing to Guernsey Fire & Rescue returning to continue the pumping out of flooded properties in the area.

The Met Office has issued a Gale warning for Friday's high-tide with F8 W-SW winds gusting to 50knots, coupled with a 9.8 tide at 0840hrs, resulting in a Flood Warning for the West coast.

We will be attempting to run as many services as close to their booked routes as possible - this situation may be subject to short-notice changes and diversions.
This will be even more challenging than the previous 2 mornings, as the tide will be at its worst during the school travel and commuting periods.

Friday morning will see the service starting with the following diversions in place from the first journeys of the day:

Pleinmont – Fort Grey – L’Eree – Perelle – Vazon Bay still have sections of the road unsafe to use.

R42 - Vazon Bay is inaccessible to buses.
Services will operate as normal to La Houguette then divert via La Mare Road and Sous les Courtils to the Fort Hommet end of Albecq.
(Will not serve the coastal end of La Rocquette or Vazon Bay).

We will closely monitor the situation as it develops from around 0600hrs on Friday morning, with updates starting from around 0700hrs.
We will reinstate services to their normal routes as and when it is safe to do so, whilst also remaining mindful of not being a hindrance to the emergency or utility services as they attempt to carry out their duties in the affected areas.

Live updates on any disruption will be posted to our Twitter and Facebook feeds; this will be the source of the most up-to-date information at any given time.

We thank you for your patience and appreciate your understanding.

Further updates will follow as comments to this message.
Many thanks, Lee.
